SportsMedUpdate
An evidence based journal watch service

British Journal of Sports Medicine is pleased to announce a new evidence based journal watch section. Each issue (starting with April 2004) will publish selected summaries from the “SportsMedUpdate” service provided by MPAH Medical cc in South Africa. A preview of this section is available here:

SportsMedUpdate uses a panel of international experienced clinicians and scientists with links to reputable academic institutions to:

  • survey the sports medicine literature (over 60 journals are scanned regularly)
  • identify original research articles that are of interest to sports medicine professionals
  • evaluate the quality and clinical interest of each article using evidence based medicine criteria
  • present the material in a standardised 1 page format utilising graphics
  • extract the main practice point from the article

The full service sends five summaries each week to subscribers by email; subscribers also have access to the full SportsMedUpdate database. An annual subscription costs €55 – British Journal of Sports Medicine readers are entitled to an extended 15 month subscription for the same rate.
