Response to: ‘Why screening tests to predict injury do not work—and probably never will…: a critical review’

We read with interest the paper by Roald Bahr.1 The purpose was to invalidate athlete screening. However, in multiple publications, Dr Bahr has extolled the virtues of screening. In 2005, he stated valgus loading predicted ACL injury in a group of 205 female athletes participating in soccer, basketball and volleyball.2 He went on to state ‘prevention programmes that specifically target the high-risk landing mechanics are much more likely to be effective,’ and concluded that, ‘if we are …
