I would like to thank Dr Lawrence and Hutchison for sharing their concerns about the ideas proposed in my recent editorial.1

The author's statement about the time course of recovery is valid. However, the concepts of ‘favourable evolution’ and ‘complete recovery’ are different. Accordingly, the editorial states that “cases that do not clearly improve within 7–10 days” should seek medical assessment.
