Manuscripts will be returned that do not follow the journal's instructions for authors. We strongly encourage you to read the instructions before submitting your manuscript. You can also refer to our frequently asked questions.

These are the main items you should consider before you submit:
- Cover letter
- Manuscript file including tables in situ
- Abstract (must also be in manuscript file)
- Word count
- Figure files (jpeg, tiff, gif, eps, PowerPoint)
- Charges for colour images
- Supplementary files (video, appendices, etc)
- Patient consent
- Ethics committee approval
- Competing interests
- Authors' consent to publication (copyright)
- Suggested reviewers
You will be asked to agree to the following statement before you can submit your manuscript:
