Quantitative Ultrasound (QUS) in the Management of Osteoporosis and Assessment of Fracture Risk
2017, Journal of Clinical DensitometryCitation Excerpt :For these purposes, the recommended parameter of interest generally has been the heel stiffness index (SI) or quantitative index (QUI), which is a composite score combining the results of BUA and SOS, as measured in meters per second. There is cross-sectional and prospective evidence that QUS can be considered in the assessment of fracture risk in some, but not all populations, defined by gender, age, and ethnic background (12–89). The strongest evidence to date is the use of heel QUS for predicting hip and spinal fractures.
Characteristics of distal radius speed of sound data in chinese mainland men and women
2015, Journal of Clinical DensitometryCitation Excerpt :All measurements were handled by a single trained operator throughout the study. Previous studies reported that the Sunlight ultrasound systems were reliable (intraoperator precision at distal radius: 0.36%) and precise (in vivo precision: 0.4%–0.8%) (15–17). All subjects were stratified according to gender and 10-yr intervals.
