Michael Winkes and his colleagues1 do an admirable job of performing a systematic review on a controversial topic for those of us who care for athletes with leg pain. Like these authors, most of us have come to the frustrating realisation that patients with deep posterior exertional compartment syndromes do less well than those with the more classic anterior or lateral exertional compartment syndrome.
