Ever since I wrote my first review, published in 1997,1 I have been looking forward to this issue of BJSM. I have been looking forward to read more well done systematic reviews than ever before on groin and hip problems. I have been looking forward to a world conference on groin injuries in athletes, with participants from all over the world. I have been looking forward to being able to present the results of an expert agreement meeting on the terminology of groin injuries. I have been looking forward for all we groin nerds to join forces and lift this important area in sports medicine into the age of evidence-based medicine.

The systematic reviews published in this issue of BJSM deliver an update of the current knowledge, evaluate it scientifically and serve as guides for future research. A lot of work has been put into these papers, taking us through epidemiology, risk …
