About the app

The ‘Desk Job’ app reminds users to break up their sitting time by setting an alarm to take a break (figure 1). Users can select from a range of times for both sitting (5–120 min) and break (1–60 min) periods. When a break is due, users are prompted to perform stretching or strengthening exercises of a particular body part preselected by the app (eg, ‘stretch the neck’).
