These five key assumptions are presented within figure 1.

Why did I do it?

As a clinician, navigating a field of research is difficult when an abundance of studies exist, not to mention trying to then figure out how to translate the research into clinical practice. The goal of my thesis was to synthesise the literature related to the management of mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy, distil the findings into a clear and useable message to guide clinical practice and perform further studies (where needed) to test the previously mentioned assumptions relevant to clinical practice. The ultimate aim was to provide clinicians with a number of simple suggestions they could use ‘at the coalface’ when seeing patients with mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy.
