            Abstract

Running economy has been relatively ignored in the scientific literature [as opposed to maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max)], though it might be the most important factor that determines endurance running performance amongst athletes who all have a high VO2max. We report anthropometric, biological and physiological data of the 2007 male cross-country World Champion (12 km race). Of especial relevance was his running economy of only 150 mLO2/kg/kilometre, which we believe is one the lowest (if not the lowest) ever published values.
