Raphael Nadal had stem cells injected for back complaints in 2014 and the New York Jet’s Chris Johnson (NFL) received them to augment knee surgery. Kim Kardashian used stem cells to get her face optimally ready for her marriage. When extremely famous people are treated with stem cells, less famous people (also known as the ordinary people) start wanting this kind of treatment as well.

Many stem cell clinics have emerged around the world in the past decade to provide patients with innovative, groundbreaking, regenerative therapy.1 2 Many haematological, neurological, hepatic and musculoskeletal conditions are being treated in these clinics. Stem cell treatment is often provided at the patient’s own expense for thousands of dollars.

Theoretically, stem cell treatment could be a very potent way of treating and possibly curing a huge spectrum of diseases because of their regenerative and immunoregulatory potential.
