PT and OT Helper offers a number of injury-specific apps, including one targeted at golfer’s elbow (GE), a musculoskeletal condition associated with pain over the medial epicondyle.1 Consistent with other apps in the PT and OT Helper range, this user-friendly app (iOS version: 121 MB; and Android version: 95.1 MB) provides a bank of exercises designed to assist clinicians and patients in the treatment of GE. Although lacking evidence from randomised controlled trials,2 the app includes 17 different exercises, consisting of specific wrist/forearm strengthening and stretching, as well as general upper limb strengthening exercises. Some exercises require additional equipment (eg, dumbbells, TheraBand Flexbar). In addition, the number of sets and repetitions, tempo (ie, repetitions/minute), duration, and level of resistance can be customised for each exercise for either the right and/or left arm. The clinician, in collaboration with the patient, can select appropriate exercises, based on clinical examination, to create an individualised exercise programme, which can be saved within the app as a ‘routine’.
