She sought his guidance as a respected cardiologist practising in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, to find out what could be done to prevent this tragic event from happening to other young athletes in their community. In response, Dr Marek’s practice organised a cardiovascular screening event at a local school using echocardiography.
