Evidence exists from laboratory studies and animal subjects that NSAIDs can affect fracture healing. This link has not been proved or disproved in human subjects, particularly for stress fractures. In view of the high usage of NSAIDs in treating musculoskeletal disorders, research is required to investigate whether the healing of stress fractures is affected by these drugs.
