MatchOfficial or friendly competition against another team
InjuryInjury resulting from playing football and leading to a player being unable to fully participate in future training or match play (ie, time-loss injury)
Metatarsal 5 fractureA traumatic or stress injury to the fifth metatarsal bone with a visible fracture line on imaging leading to a player being unable to fully participate in training or match play
RehabilitationThe period during which the team's medical staff prohibited full participation in training, and availability for match selection
Lay-offNumber of days until the player resumed full-team training
ReinjuryInjury of the same type and at the same site as an index injury occurring no more than 2 months after a player's return to full participation from the index injury
Severe injuryInjury causing  absence of over 28 days from training and match play
Traumatic fractureInjury with sudden onset
Stress fractureInjury with insidious onset
Torg type IFracture line with sharp margins and no widening, minimal cortical hypertrophy, minimal evidence of periostal reaction to chronic stress and no intramedullary sclerosis
Torg type IIFracture line with associated periostal bone union, widened fracture line with adjacent radiolucency related to bone absorption and evidence of intramedullary sclerosis
Torg type IIIWide fracture line, periostal new bone and radiolucency and complete obliteration of the medullary canal at the fracture site by sclerotic bone
