2022, American Journal of Emergency MedicineCitation Excerpt :Because case reports have demonstrated that misoprostol can cause intrauterine fetal demise near term, these patients will likely need to be managed in conjunction with the obstetrics team. In these cases, physiologic changes that occur during later in pregnancy, such as decreased gastric motility and emptying (which may predispose to aspiration), increased cardiac output, and glomerular filtration must be considered [23,24]. 2017, Pregnancy HypertensionCitation Excerpt :It is understood that over the first two trimesters of pregnancy, CO gradually increases with the greatest increase occurring by 16 weeks of gestation [42–44]. The rise in CO is believed to plateau after 20 weeks of gestation but remains at that elevated level until term [21,43]. The increase in the heart rate and SV contribute to this increase in CO [45].
