In a 3 month period at one institution in New York, 50% of operative head trauma and 9% of all head trauma in children were golf-related, and generally caused by another child carelessly swinging the club.48 A study from Scotland revealed golf to be one of the commonest sports-related causes of head injury, with children predominantly being affected.34
