    Subcapsular liver haematoma formation has been reported in pregnant women, occurring in about 2% of pregnancies complicated by haemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets (HELLP) syndrome.1 It may also occur after laparoscopic cholecystectomy,2 liver transplantation3 or as a consequence of miscellaneous trauma, encountered with an increased frequency in patients injured during mountain-bike crashes4,5 or shot with a police bean bag, a weapon widely adopted by law enforcement agencies.6 In this report, a subcapsular liver haematoma occurred in a rescued victim of drowning after successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation had been provided by non-trained bystanders.
