Achilles tendon repair: a new method of Achilles tendon repair tested on cadaverous materials

J Trauma. 1991 Mar;31(3):381-4.

Abstract

Conventional suture techniques were compared with a new and modified continuous six-strand suture technique (CSSS) in laboratory tests on cadaverous Achilles tendons. The techniques were compared with regard to gapping resistance and rupture point. The CSSS technique had significantly greater tensile strength and gapping resistance than the Mason and Bunnell techniques.
